For 2012 the Tour de Bretagne goes further into south-west Brittany than ever before bcause that’s what many previous participants have asked us to do. We’ve found a suitable hotel at a reasonable price but with an excellent restaurant and the route options we are now exploring are stunning.

The Finistère region really does reflect the Breton symbols of water, earth, wind, and the fire of its mythical lighthouses. The colours of the rocky shores and heathland landscapes have inspired artists and poets for generations and will stay in your memory forever.

As well as being a land devoted to the ocean and to Celtic tradition, it is also a region of gastronomic delights. Finistère has some of the best oysters while local lobster is excellent: in fact, if you’re a seafood lover this place is heaven on earth. But the soil is also rich and fertile. Finistere produces crops as varied as Artichokes and some of the country´s sweetest and tastiest strawberries.

And, of course, Brittany´s own distinctive beverages (cider, chouchen - a kind of mead - and pommeau, an apple-based distilled wine) are definitely worth sampling.

Entries are still available but are filling-up quickly. Several regular participants are joining us again and we´re also pleased to see some new faces amongst the entries. Among the marques lined-up to join us next June are Mercedes, Jaguar, Triumph, Renault and a clutch of MGs.
